- Jim Anderson Michael, they were clearly taken. A sail doesn't just slide off the mast AND the boom, the jib blocks are both gone, the traveler block is gone and needed a stopper removed first, and several lines are gone which needed to be untied. What puzzle me is that they bailed thousands of gallons of water out of the boat. I think they may have been actually trying to salvage it. I made a sign and put it up near where the boat was telling them to call me to return the parts, but haven't heard anything.
Jim Anderson Michael may be right. I got a call today from someone who said they saw my sign, and saw what looked like a mainsail floating in about 6 feet of water roughly 200 feet up the shore, to the northeast. By the time I got there it was gone, but is probably drifting underwater somewhere close. So if you are at the lake and between the 36th street dock and the south and of the lake, keep an eye out for it!
