The boat on the other hand is still in deep water. There is a plan at noon on Tuesday to float it up to the surface, and see what to do from that point.

  • Jim Anderson Michael, they were clearly taken. A sail doesn't just slide off the mast AND the boom, the jib blocks are both gone, the traveler block is gone and needed a stopper removed first, and several lines are gone which needed to be untied. What puzzle me is that they bailed thousands of gallons of water out of the boat. I think they may have been actually trying to salvage it. I made a sign and put it up near where the boat was telling them to call me to return the parts, but haven't heard anything.

  • Michael S. Thorud I still wonder if they removed the sail just to be able to right it easier, and that the sail could still be in the water where the capsized boat was at the time it was righted.

  • Jim Anderson That could be, I did look around for missing parts but the problem is that it drops off really deep really fast in that area. If you walk around the lake on the south end you will see a rock that has a plaque showing an 1835 (I think) map of the area, the boat was tied to a tree about 40 yards west of that rock. Very hard to see anything in the water there.

  • Jean Huselid I hope this all turns out well but it is turning into quite the mystery of the E-Scow!

Jim Anderson Michael may be right. I got a call today from someone who said they saw my sign, and saw what looked like a mainsail floating in about 6 feet of water roughly 200 feet up the shore, to the northeast. By the time I got there it was gone, but is probably drifting underwater somewhere close. So if you are at the lake and between the 36th street dock and the south and of the lake, keep an eye out for it!

Why sit in a circle?
by Bill Morton

Because it’s cold outside – yah.
Because we can’t sail – yah.
But it’s for discovery.

Sharing in a circle.
we can discover one another
and maybe
we can even discover ourselves.

What we really are is hidden;
it is hidden
in these wonderful bodies of ours.

We are spirits,
embodied spirits,
and we can choose to express them
through words and gestures
or keep them hidden.

Sitting in a circle
we can share our spirits.
And our spirits are wonderful,
maybe more wonderful than we know.

Perhaps, as in all of nature,
we may see the divine in each other,
and if in each other
maybe also in ourselves.

What's the purpose?

Only to experience each other,
only to experience life,
to enjoy each other,
to appreciate each other,
and maybe appreciate ourselves,
and find the divine within.

Let’s sit in a circle,
tell our stories,
listen, relate,
and be filled with awe.

Hope to see you in the circle,

Bill

A way of being
By Carl Rogers

A way of being with another person ... means ... temporarily living in their life ... moving about in it delicately ... without making judgments ...

... to be with another in this way ... means ... that for the time being ... you lay aside the views and values you hold for yourself ... in order to enter the other's world ... without prejudice ... a complex, demanding, strong ... yet subtle and gentle way of being.

...

signs of a spiritual awakening
Autor unknown

An unmistakable ability
to enjoy each moment.

A loss of interest
in judging people.

A loss of interest
in interpreting the actions of others.

A loss of interest
in conflict.

A loss of ability
to worry.

Frequent and overwhelming episodes
of appreciation.

Contented feelings of connectedness
with others and nature.

Frequent attacks of smiling.

An increased tendency to let things happen
rather than make them happen.

~ PLEASE! JUST LISTEN ~

By Ray Houghton

When I ask you to listen to me
and you start giving me advice,
you have not done what I asked.

When I ask you to listen to me
and you begin to tell me why
I shouldn't feel that way,
you are trampling on my feelings.

When I ask you to listen to me
and you feel you have to do something
to solve my problem,
you have failed me,
strange as that may seem.

Listen! All I ask is that you listen.

Don't talk or do - just hear me.

...

I can do for myself;

I am not helpless.

Maybe discouraged and faltering,
but not helpless.

...

When you do something for me
that I can and need to do for myself,
you contribute to my fear and inadequacy.

But when you accept as a simple fact
that I feel what I feel,
no matter how irrational,
then I can stop trying to convince you
and get about this business
of understanding what's behind
this irrational feeling.

And when that's clear,
the answers are obvious
and I don't need advice.

Irrational feelings make sense
when we understand what's behind them.

...

So please listen, and just hear me.

And if you want to talk,
wait a minute
for your turn
and I will listen to you.

...
